Head of Nursing Simon Taylor is a former member of Royal Air Force who served as an Armourer before leaving the airforce as a Corporal after 14 years. He has since gone on to be a Nurse in the NHS before making hsi way to his current position as Head of Nursing – Surgery. When asked how he felt about the Military he said “As an ex-serviceman I continue to have great respect for the work of our Armed Forces. We are fortunate to have strong links to the local Armed Forces community, both national and international, and take pride in supporting the healthcare of the military personnel and their families around us.”
Senior Medical Matron Lorraine Weaver-Smith also has links to the military as her husband is a serving member of the Royal Air Force Regiment as is one of her sons while her other son is at university and is part of the Officer Training Corp. She said “Armed Forces Day is a great occasion because it’s important we ackowledge our troops and their selfless commitment.”
Senior Medical Matrons Dinane Last and Cheryl Stott echoed their colleagues sentiments and added “we’re very proud of all you do. Thank you from one Service to another.”
West Suffolk Hosptial is located in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk & serves the local & wider communitys health needs.
